CAPA, a United Way agency, is a local, non-profit organization chartered in 1981 for the purpose of providing prevention and intervention programs targeted at breaking the cycle of child abuse and aiding its victims. CAPA offers community and School-based outreach, parenting education, home visitation, safe sleep education, and foster care. CAPA offers professional training for adults who are mandated reporters of child abuse and neglect, offers a family support/mentoring program, and operates the Open Arms Children’s Home, a residential program for abused and neglected children. Since opening its doors in 1985, over 2,543 children have lived in our safe home.
Primarily serving the 14th Judicial District (Beaufort, Jasper, Colleton, Allendale, and Hampton), a statewide shortage of foster homes brings us children from across South Carolina.
