The Child Abuse Prevention Association (CAPA) is a local, non-profit organization founded in 1978 and chartered in 1981 for the purpose of providing prevention and intervention programs targeted at breaking the cycle of child abuse and neglect.

CAPA provides school-based safety and character development education, teen pregnancy prevention programs, and a variety of parent education and support programs. CAPA offers professional training for adults who are mandated reporters and provides out-of-home care for abused and neglected children through our Resource Family program and Open Arms Children’s Home.  Since opening in 1985, CAPA has been home to more than 2,400 children.

Primarily serving the 14th Judicial District (Beaufort, Jasper, Colleton, Allendale, and Hampton), a statewide shortage of foster homes brings us children from across South Carolina.
